Peter MacCallum grew up in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Known for its natural beauty, the area is perfect for developing an appreciation for the environment. As Peter explains it, “I was initially attracted to photography as a way of experiencing nature. Then I was attracted to photography for its own sake. That was 30 years ago and I’m still at it!”

Trained as a graphic artist, Peter likes to work closely with clients to establish what their photo requirements are and how the photos will be used. Often he is told that he has a great eye for photography. He puts it another way – “It’s not about what I see, it’s about knowing what the camera sees.”

Peter has lived in several areas of Western Canada and Oslo Norway for a number of years. The work he produces reflects his exposure to different cultures and demonstrates his ability to create interesting imagery in a variety of situations.

When asked to sum up his approach to photography, he says that he produces “Quiet photos that say a lot.”
